   WHO AM I?

Jessica Libowitz has a double-major in Sociology and Women & Gender Studies, with a minor in Anthropology. She spent her four years as a dedicated activist in the social justice community at Dickinson College, as well as abroad at the University of East Anglia during her junior year. She has interned at the Women's Center and trained at the YWCA in Carlisle, as well as worked with different organizations on campus, such as Spectrum and the Feminist Collective, to promote community building, the creation of safe spaces, and the expansion of a voice for women and the LGBTQ+ community.

She has also worked with marginalized populations and victims of trauma, through education and volunteer work with Yes Please and other groups, in order to promote sustainable communities and support systems on campus. Her professional work centers on youth development and education. Jessica has worked with organizations, such as Summerbridge Pittsburgh and the LEAD program, to help combat education inequality through working with students to foster socially just attitudes and to pass along transferrable skills that will help to empower students and work to cose this gap.

Jessica has worked to found the first ever Women's Retreat Dickinson College's campus and her academic research centers on the intersections between race and gender within both health and the media. Through her research Jessica has travelled and studied across 19 different countries and more than 40 cities.

My goal moving forward is to make a difference in the lives of marginalized and underserved communities through further work with victims of sexual assault, the LGBTQ community, feminist organizations, and children- particularly students with mental disorders. I’m particularly interested in working in ways that aid these groups and those dealing with trauma, as well as communities in need through leadership and team based work grounded in social justice and education as a teacher and mentor.
